Highlights-London Fashion Week 2022 (September)
London Fashion Week Day 1 (16 September)
On the first day, morning and evening events took place. Morning events included Noon by Noor APPOINTMENTS for womenswear, Bethany Williams-Static Installation for Menswear, Leo Carlton (NEWGEN) for accessories, KNWLS catwalk, and many more.
The well-known London designer, Bethany Williams, employs deadstock, natural, or recycled materials to achieve her objectives of aiding others, producing art, and designing clothing.
Poster Girl’s SS23 collection leaned heavily on nostalgia and demonstrated that they are more than simply their best-selling dress; Dua Lipa and Kylie Jenner are among their famous followers. This season, the brand KNWLS shows a more playful side. Cropped leather jackets over mesh tops with laced pants opened the show and were still at the forefront.
However, the party outfits with delicate floral prints and Swarovski embellishments that subsequently drifted down the runway felt novel and unique for the brand. In the evening, events like Jasmine SS22 Catwalk, Mishus Spring Summer 2022, and TRAN HUNG took place.
London Fashion Week Day 2 (17 September 2022)
On the second day of the fashion week, the SS23 collection by Molly Goddard was a tribute to contrast. Her show opens with calico dresses and skirts. She also created men’s shrunken tailoring and collared cardigans in the 1950s. The program came to a traditional bridal conclusion with a bride in a modern fashion tulle wedding gown.
Jonathan Anderson developed a “the show must go on” mentality to encourage London’s up-and-coming performers who would face financial ruin on cancellation. He took over a Soho gaming arcade and displayed negligee dresses, a dolphin print dress, and a dress in a goldfish-in-a-bag prize from a fair style.
Nensi Dojaka’s renowned lingerie-like pieces merge flow and rigidity in the SS23 collection, including silver, lilac, and pink materials that look dewy and moist. Also, evening gowns with sequin embellishments and lacquer slip dresses glisten down the catwalk. The collection’s subtle hint of sexuality combines lurex and lace bra cups. It also includes leopard print and denim, paying homage to the 1990s.
Rixo, a womenswear brand born in the London living room of two best friends, presents elegant, striking, and fashionable attire on the catwalk in London.
London Fashion Week Day 3 (18 September 2022)
The third day of London Fashion Week involves KWK by KAY KWOK, Nensi Dojaka, 16Arlington, Rejina Pyo, David Koma Catwalk, and many more events. Yuan Wang returns to the London catwalk following the moving event with another magnificent collection that plays with hyper-femininity and subtle beauty in tandem with another crucial message that nobody should miss.
Internationally renowned designers Hila and Kristian Aadnevik have created strong & Appealing looks for several famous ladies, including Kendall Jenner, Rihanna, Beyonce, and many more. Their expert tailoring produces one-of-a-kind, intriguing clothing that plays with various textures like leather and lace and harmonizes with different color schemes.
Christopher Kane’s SS23 collection was a parody of some of his earlier creations, getting him back on the calendar of London Fashion Week with a bang. Highlights included PVC and crystal chainmail, subversive twinsets, lingerie & floral stickers
Erdem explored the subject of art restoring talent and dedication in his most recent collection. His SS23 creations were motivated by the conservation work done by museum staff in the background. By investigating the undone, he produces unexpected elements like frayed hems, startling forms derived from understructure analysis, and gowns made from pieces of various fabrics.
London Fashion Week Day 4 (19 September 2022)
The Queen, who passed away on September 11 at the age of 96, was given a state funeral on Monday, September 19. Therefore, all scheduled performances were canceled or rescheduled.
The next generation will continue to be inspired by Her Majesty’s easy flair, charisma, and sense of fun as well as by her commitment to encouraging young creatives.
London Fashion Week Day 5 (20 September 2022)
Luxury fashion designer Emilia Wickstead has graced London Fashion Weeks for more than ten years and counts The Princess of Wales as a customer. However, the seasoned fashionist stays ageless as her striking designs and chic silhouettes stand out on the contemporary woman.
Emilia’s collection embodies the pinnacle of the Royal Class. Chet Lo, whose knitwear emphasizes texture and futuristic designs, will be one to watch on the last day of physical fashion shows at London Fashion Week. Since the pandemic, Asian American fashion designer Chet has been highlighted in publications like Marie Claire and Vogue and dressing stars like Doja Cat, Kylie Jenner, and Willow Smith.
The spring collection of Michael Kors began with a white silk skirt suit in the Halston style that was heavily motivated by Michelle Pfeiffer’s character Elvira Hancock from the movie Scarface. It included a plunging neckline and tastefully placed tit-tape. It wasn’t just conspicuous but also impossible to miss, as seen by the suit’s longevity in movie costume culture.
Kor’s spring collection concept was to “bring the resort to the city and the city to the resort.” “Instead of going to the beach, many people in London wear flip-flops to work. People dress the same way in the city as they do on vacation. According to Kors, this entails women arriving at work in kaftans with billowing floral prints, wearing spindly heels on their private plane and the school run, and carrying their phones and keys in tiny, boxy handbags.
The selection was perhaps more appropriate for a perfect body type and the beach than a business meeting. Kors belts wide-legged pants in red, black, and pink to the hilt, ties small sarongs to miniskirts, and undoes plush silk blouses to the navel. Sequin skirts with tight sequin tops and bra-tops were shown in the show as tops, showing a little bit of collarbone and abs here and there.
Conclusion
London Fashion Week 2022 is dedicated to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. To honor the Queen’s legacy and commitment to creativity and design, the corporate and creative fashion communities come together in this show. Innovative brands, companies, and designers showcase their creativity to potential media and merchants. Thus, giving a new face to the present-day fashion trend.
